FUKAYA, Saitama — About 300 people held a parade in Fukaya, Saitama Prefecture, on Sunday to celebrate the introduction of the new ¥10,000 banknote featuring a portrait of Eiichi Shibusawa, a resident of the city.

Shibusawa was a businessman who lived in the 19th and early 20th centuries. He is also called “the father of Japanese capitalism”.

The participants dressed as farmers and samurai of the time and paraded along about 400 meters of the main street around JR Fukaya Station.
