A recent study found that the lower the income of people in Japan, the more likely people are to have high blood pressure.
The trend appears to stem from alcohol consumption, obesity and lack of exercise, according to the study led by researchers from Tokyo Medical and Dental University. The findings were published in an online edition of the Japanese Society of Hypertension’s journal, Hypertension Research.
For the study, the group analyzed data from a total of 127.8 million Japanese between the ages of 40 and 74 who had undergone special health checks for lifestyle diseases between 2009 and 2015.
