Police are searching for a man who fired a gun in a traffic dispute in Tokyo

Following a traffic dispute in the city of Chofu, western Tokyo, a gun was fired early Wednesday morning, prompting police to be called to the scene.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the confrontation began at an intersection after two vehicles nearly collided, causing one to block the other. The two male drivers got out of their vehicle and began arguing about the near collision.

During the dispute, one of the drivers shouted, “I’ll kill you,” before firing a single shot from what appeared to be a handgun. He then fled north.

No one was injured in the incident, but police are searching for the shooter and investigating the case as attempted murder.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s, approximately 170 centimeters tall, of thin build, wearing a black baseball cap, matching jersey top and bottom, and glasses.

The incident took place at around 2.40am in Wakaba residential area, about 500 meters south of the Sengawa station of the Keio Line.
