Pyongyang floats more balloons amid vows of retaliation against Seoul

The North Korean leader’s powerful sister has vowed revenge on South Korea after Seoul resumed loudspeaker propaganda broadcasts at its heavily militarized border for the first time in years.

Kim Yo Jong said late on Sunday that Seoul would witness a “new counteraction” after activists restarted loudspeaker broadcasts and floated balloons carrying anti-regime leaflets and USB drives full of South Korean dramas and music across the border, a step that the South cannot legally stop.

The North Korean regime fears the loudspeaker and leaflet campaigns, which provide frontline troops and residents with information that could weaken its grip on power, and has demanded Seoul take action.
