Rapidus ‘last chance’ to put Japan back on the global chip map

Japan’s Rapidus project, which brings together some of the world’s largest companies, is the “last chance” to put the country’s once dominant semiconductor sector back on the global map, its chairman has warned.

โ€œThe whole world is being digitized. It will be crucial for Japan to build a very strong digital technology industry,โ€ said Higashi, an industry veteran and ex-president of Tokyo Electron, a major manufacturer of chip-making tools.
