TOKYOJul 23 (News On Japan) – Demolition work began last week on a nearly completed 10-story apartment building in Kunitachi, Tokyo. The building was blocking views of Mount Fuji and was intended to restore the once picturesque view from the “Fujimidori” shopping street that runs from JR Kunitachi Station.
The apartment building along the street became a major problem because it blocked half of the view of Mount Fuji. Last month, Sekisui House, the developer, decided to demolish the building just before completion.
According to Sekisui House, the company explained the situation to local residents and began demolition work on July 16. Demolition is scheduled to be completed in August next year, but there are no plans yet for the future use of the site.
Sekisui House noted: โWe are taking every precaution to minimize disruption by taking thorough safety, noise and vibration measures during demolition.โ
