Rory McIlroy loses confidence in the merger between PGA and LIV

Without Jimmy Dunne on the PGA Tour policy board, Rory McIlroy said he believes a discussed merger with LIV Golf is headed in the wrong direction.

Dunne resigned from his position on the policy board earlier this week, ending what he started as one of the original negotiators who bridged communications between the rival golf circuits and helped finalize the “framework agreement” signed on 6 was made public in June 2023.

“Honestly, I think it’s a huge loss for the PGA Tour as they try to get this deal done with the PIF (Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund) and try to unify the game,” McIlroy said at Valhalla Golf Club , the site of the 2024 PGA Championship, on Wednesday.
