TOKYOAug 24 (News On Japan) – A Ferrari seized from a tax evader has been listed in an online auction of assets by the Tokyo Regional Tax Bureau.
The Ferrari, which is distinguished by its sleek, bright red bodywork, is an Italian luxury car that the Tokyo tax authorities seized from a person who did not pay his taxes. The car is for sale via an internet auction.
The starting price for the Ferrari is 56.8 million yen ($392,000), the highest ever for a seized asset, excluding real estate.
Other luxury items up for auction include a luxury wristwatch starting at 24.1 million yen and a popular whisky starting at 560,000 yen.
Registrations to participate in the auction are open until 5 p.m. on August 23. Bidding is expected to begin early next month.
