SoftBank’s Son aims to create ‘super’ AI in new investment drive

SoftBank’s Son aims to create ‘super’ AI in new investment drive, SoftBank Group’s high-profile founder Masayoshi Son is back, this time with plans to bring about an era of artificial super intelligence (ASI).

Son outlined ambitions to help create artificial intelligence that is thousands of times smarter than any human, making his grandest statements since the Japanese conglomerate began taking steps to shore up its finances after a series of ill-timed startup bets.

Son, sounding both more energetic and reflective than he has in years, spoke Friday of a future in which Arm Holdings chips support a thriving ecosystem of robots and powerful data centers that can collectively cure cancer, clean houses and play with children.
