Suzuki Motor Corp. on Thursday unveiled to the press the vehicle for its electric pedal motorcycle, called a “moped” in Japan, that is under development.
The vehicle, called “e-PO”, is powered by a motor and can be used as an electrically assisted bicycle by pedaling. It has the characteristics of both a bicycle and an electric bicycle and is expected to be popular as a simple means of transportation.
The e-PO has a range of approximately 20 kilometers when running on the engine alone and is intended for short distances to work or school.
The foldable design makes it easy to carry. Release date and price are yet to be determined.
The vehicle is classified as a class 1 moped, with a rated power of 600 W or less. A license plate and a helmet are required for driving on public roads.
