Six months after the earthquake in the Noto Peninsula, the transition of evacuees from reception centres to long-term temporary housing is starting to get underway.
While the transition has brought most some relief from their long displacement, uncertainty about rebuilding their homes hangs like a dark cloud over their heads. The next transition โ from temporary housing to permanent housing โ has emerged as a key point in the post-disaster recovery process.
After the earthquake, 54 households – consisting of 114 residents of Fukami County, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture – were evacuated to the Awazu Onsen hot springs in Komatsu City, about 130 kilometers away in the same prefecture.
