Titmus and McKeown fuel Australia’s Olympic swimming hopes in a bid to topple the US

Australia’s formidable swimming team heads to the Olympics this week, headlined by two superstars of the sport, Ariarne Titmus and Kaylee McKeown, as they look to break a 68-year drought against arch-rivals the United States.

The pool squad was scaled back after six intense days of trials that culminated in Brisbane on Saturday, with improving on their performance from Tokyo three years ago the immediate aim.

โ€œI’m excited, very excited, we have a great group of athletes,โ€ said head coach Rohan Taylor, who led them to nine gold medals and 21 overall in Japan, behind only the all-conquering Americans.
