Tokyo DisneySea taps ‘Frozen’ and ‘Peter Pan’ for ¥320 billion expansion

Tokyo Disney Resort is opening a new ¥320 billion ($2 billion) department celebrating some of the most popular fantasy franchises – the biggest expansion to date in Japan as Walt Disney invests heavily in theme parks worldwide.

Located in Tokyo Disneyland’s partner park Tokyo DisneySea, Fantasy Springs spans over 140,000 square feet and consists of three areas based on the “Frozen,” “Tangled” and “Peter Pan” franchises.

The resort’s operator, Oriental Land, predicts that the expansion, which opens to the public on June 6, will help boost annual revenue by ¥75 billion and attract 29 million visitors – about the same number as in 2019 – to the parks for the coming fiscal year, with 4 million coming from abroad. The two Japanese Disney parks had a total of 27.5 million visitors last year.
