Donald Trump said Sunday that he would accept house arrest or prison time following his historic conviction on criminal charges by a New York jury last week, but that it would be difficult for the public to accept.
Trump is expected to be sentenced on July 11, four days before Republicans meet to formally choose their presidential nominee to face Democratic President Joe Biden in the November elections.
Prison sentences are rare for people convicted in New York state of falsifying corporate records, the charge Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, faced during his trial. The maximum penalty for such a charge is four years in prison.
