Over the past year, Donald Trump has described his ideal running mate as someone who could easily step into the role of commander in chief if needed and who would help him contrast with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
โIt has to be someone who can be a good president, and Biden doesn’t have that,โ Trump said in an April interview with Hugh Hewitt, a conservative political commentator.
But now that the curtain has fallen on his theatre selection process, his public statements suggest he has begun to think differently and place greater value on political considerations.
