The Ukraine national football team and its fans, hungry for success at Euro 2024 after more than two years of a tough war against Russia, regretted their elimination on Wednesday but were proud of the team’s efforts.
Ukraine drew 0-0 with Belgium and finished the group stage with 4 points – not good enough to advance in a group with an equal finish between the four teams.
“Participation in the tournament was very important for our country. We showed the character of our nation after almost 900 days of war,” Ukrainian coach Serhiy Rebrov told reporters. “It is very important to show the people of Europe, the people of Ukraine, that we are still fighting.”
