Japan’s Yuka Suzuki finished sixth in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics on Sunday with a time of 2:24:02.
For Suzuki, born in Akita Prefecture, this was her fourth marathon and her first at the Olympics.

In the men’s marathon held on Saturday, Japan’s Akira Akasaki, competing at the Olympic Games for the first time, finished sixth with a time of 2:07:32.
It is the second time in a row that a Japanese athlete has won a prize in the men’s marathon. Suguru Osako also finished sixth at the Tokyo Games.
