ispace completes shipment of lunar rover to Japan

TOKYOSep 6 (News On Japan) – Space startup ‘ispace’, which aims to achieve the first moon landing by a private Japanese company, has announced that the transport of its moon rover from Luxembourg to Japan has been completed.

ispace transported the rover, named “Tenacious”, from the manufacturing site in Luxembourg to Japan in a special container.

The rover is 54 cm long and weighs about 5 kg. After being mounted on a lunar lander in Japan, it will be transported to the United States. There it will be launched this winter on board a rocket of the American aerospace company SpaceX.

The rover is expected to reach the moon in about five months to collect lunar soil samples.

In April last year, ispace made its first attempt to land on the moon, but it failed. This is their second attempt at a moon landing.
