Miyazaki’s ‘The Boy and the Heron’ nominated for an Oscar

Los Angeles (Jiji Press) – “The Boy and the Heron” by Japanese amine director Hayao Miyazaki received an Academy Award nomination for animated feature on Tuesday.

‘Perfect Days’ by Wim Wenders, in which Japanese actor Koji Yakusho plays the leading role, was nominated for an Oscar for international feature film.

Japanese director Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One received an Oscar nomination for visual effects. Kazu Hiro and two others received nominations for makeup and hairstyling for their work on “Maestro.”

The awards ceremony will take place on March 10 in Hollywood.

“The Boy and the Heron” is Miyazaki’s fourth work to be nominated for an Oscar for animated film. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature earlier this month.
