TOKYOJul 26 (News On Japan) – The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is facing a drop in the number of applicants, raising concerns about future recruitment. In an effort to showcase the appeal of the profession, the department held a training event for students, featuring demonstrations by special police units.
At the police academy in Fuchu City, Tokyo, the training sessions were open to more than 100 high school and university students. The event included a demonstration by the special police unit (SP), demonstrating their ability to protect dignitaries from approaching vehicles, as well as a synchronized slalom performance by female motorcycle officers.
One participating student noted, โIt’s impressive to see how they protect the citizens of Japan. It has piqued my interest in joining the forensic department or similar units.โ
