Toyohashi’s festive summer beer tram is running again; riders enjoy snacks and soap during a 90-minute ride

TOYOHASHI, Aichi – The summer tradition of drinking beer while riding the “Noryo Beer Tram” in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture returns Friday after a test run was held Wednesday evening.

The special tram runs round-trip between Ekimae Station and Undokoenmae Station of the Toyotetsu City Line and takes about 90 minutes.

The temperature in the city on Wednesday was 28.5 degrees Celsius, the highest this year. A group of 28 citizens selected by lottery enjoyed the summer atmosphere with snacks and bottomless beer.

A care worker who participated with her mother smiled and said, “I’ve always wanted to try the ride. Normally I don’t drink beer, but it is very tasty.”

The rides are only available for three months, from June 14 to September 23.
